Academic Anywhere LLC was established in 2021 by Jen Michaels, an ex-academic turned corporate learning & development strategist who transitioned out of academia in 2016. She went ABD (All but Dissertation) from the Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy program at The Ohio State University’s Department of English in 2016, then became a learning strategist at a training & development agency that served Fortune 500 clients in banking, insurance, health care, and hospitality. Today, Jen is a learning & development strategist for a Fortune 500 company in manufacturing.

Since 2017, Jen's private consulting clients and workshop participants have successfully transitioned out of academia into a variety of roles, including but not limited to user-experience design, instructional design, technical writing, leadership consulting and human resources, marketing and communications, entrepreneurship, teaching private school, and more.

Jen’s academic training, which included over a decade of experience working in University Writing Centers and consulting on Writing Across the Curriculum, gave her a unique view of what academics have in common--and don’t have in common!--across departments and disciplines. As an award-winning teacher of digital media courses in academia, and a successful corporate learning strategist, Jen is known for interactive and powerful learning experiences that help each participant build confidence and succeed.

Jen established Academic Anywhere LLC in 2021 to translate her workshop and consulting material into an online course format.
